1 Corinthians 11:25
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me."
The price Jesus paid with His blood was for the redemption of the entire human race. Is it even possible to place a price on His sacrifice? Peter said, in 1 Peter 1:18-19: "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."
When we accept by faith the covering of our sins with the redeeming blood of Jesus, God has promised to not remember our transgressions. Hebrews 8:12-13: "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (This is a reference to Jeremiah 31:31-34.) But, the Bible tells us there is even more power in the blood!
The blood of Jesus....
...rescues us from the dominion of darkness (Colossians 1:13-14);
...justifies us before God (Romans 5:9);
...makes us holy (Hebrews 10:10);
...redeems us (Ephesians 1:7);
...cleanses our consciences (Hebrews 9:14);
...brings us near to God (Ephesians 2:13);
...gives us confidence to enter the Most High Place (Hebrews 10:19);
...purifies us from all sin (1 John 1:7);
...provides victory over Satan (Revelation 12:11).
The blood of Jesus is not representative or illustrative. There is actual power for us today in the blood He shed. Are you living in weakness or in power? Consider all the things the Bible says about the blood of Jesus. Are you looking at your present circumstances from this perspective?
There is Power in the Blood (Hymn by Lewis E. Jones, 1899)
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.
Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.
